One million meals

Linda and I left for the weekend. We went to a Christian music festival. We heard music from Third Day, Mercyme, Jars of Clay, Blind Boys of Alabama and countless others. We heard everything from bagpipes to blue grass to rock to choirs to-… well everything.

But the best song was far away from the music. The Horn of Africa is undergoing a bad drought and famine along with constant war and terroism. The early predictions are that as many as 12 million may die. Thousands of volunteers took time to help this weekend. One million meals were packaged for Somalia. While Linda and I were there we saw people of every age, every size, every sex, every shape trying to help. The youngest couldnt have been older than 8 or 9. The oldest….. well she looked really old.

It was a good day to be from Knoxville. It was a good day to love the Lord. It was maybe the most worshipful part of the weekend. The last meal was packaged about 1 in the morning of the last day. A long day. A really good day.
