For Monika Fardan

Today would have been her 39th birthday.

She died because being poor in Tennessee meant not having insurance.
She broke her toe and didn’t want to make a bill.   She had a blood clot from the broken toe.   It went up her leg and eventually into her lungs.   It exploded and she died.

In the state of Tennessee someone died from a broken toe.

She didn’t know.

But a doctor would have.

Her mother talks about what a good person her daughter was.

She didn’t have to die.  She should never have died.

How many birthdays are there in Tennessee for people who didn’t have to die?

Tell your legislator about Monika.   Tell them about birthdays.

Tell them to Insure Tennessee.   No more birthdays.
