The recent report from the Attorney General says that Rep. Jeremy Durham has been involved in the sexual harassment or abuse or manipulation of 22 women at the state legislature. Rather than call a special session to remove him from his position the Republican majority has decided to “let the voters decide” and not call a special session. It will they say save Tennessee the expense of a special session. What they don’t say is that not having a special session will save many people much embarrassment. Durham is not a secret keeping kind of guy and it is really likely people knew and did nothing.
They seem to have asked Durham to fall on his sword and he has suspended his campaign all the while proclaiming his innocence. Unless the voters do something strange like reelect him the hope is the whole thing will go away.
But there is a big problem. Whether he is reelected or not if he is still in the legislature in November he is eligible for a life time pension from the state of Tennessee. With all he has done he will draw money from the state of Tennessee forever. I am not sure but I think that includes health insurance for life also. It is like paying the guy who robs you an extra bonus for his hard work.
SAY NO!!!!! CALL YOUR LEGISLATORS AND TELL THEM YOU SUPPORT A SPECIAL SESSION REGARDLESS OF THE ELECTION RESULTS. BE LOUD AND BE PERSISTENT AND HOLD THEM ACCOUNTABLE!
