We are all prisoners of what it means for us to feel ” normal”.
All other things considered, an amazing amount of the time we do what it means to be “normal” or to do what makes us feel “normal.” We seek consistency in ourselves.
We have an amazing ability to make anything, regardless of how bizarre or strange, make sense if it is part of what “normal” means for us. Many drug addicts take drugs to feel “normal.” For them something is wrong if they don’t feel high.
We do things that have extreme consequences if those thing are part of what it means to feel “normal.” We can always come up with an excuse to do what we want to do. Many times our sense is not very sensible but we play easy victims.
A lot of times our “normal” behaviors are problem solving behaviors. And a lot of times there result is just to make things worse.
What is “normal” for you? What problems does it cause? Are you sometimes surprised in looking back the things you think make good sense.
I know I am.
