I think 4 ideas have have been the foundation of what we have tried to say.
Knowledge is vitally important. Much of the mental health system is based on either pseudo science or simple prejudice and is ultimately harmful to those it claims to help. There are many very skilled and caring people who do great things, but for too many the system is more hurtful than helping.
Secondly, is the core value of fairness. Everyone deserves a chance that is real and relevant to their life. All of us are more than what we are called. We need as much commitment to what we can be as judgement about what we have been.
Thirdly, compassion counts. Without it all is manipulation and technique. The single most powerful experience in life is that of one person caring for another. Life is not meant to leave us alone and too often…
