Did you ever wonder how Tim Murphy got the job as savior of the mental health system??
He was appointed.
The Republicans after Newtown decided they needed a response and appointed him to draft it. They didn’t want anyone to think the reason that so many people shot people with guns was because so many people had guns to shoot people with. Murphy was a psychologist and even though his previous six terms in Congress he was not exactly overwhelming in his mental health activism the job was his. He made sure that he took advantage of every tragedy the last year to proclaim that the Murphy Bill would have prevented it. Congressman Murphy showed he was not even a little bit lacking in political opportunism.
